Our Response to COVID-19

Dear CCSC Camp Community,

Over the last couple of months we have all been riding a roller coaster, faced with a great deal of uncertainty and unease as our country has been battling the COVID-19 crisis.  We have been saddened by the loss of life, the multiple challenges of coping with social distancing, remote schooling and working, as well as the loss of jobs for so many.

We thank you for your patience and support as we researched how we might be able to carry on safely with a summer camp program.

Camp is inherently a social experience.  It is a community designed for children, youth and adults who live together, play together, learn together, and laugh together. Camp is a community based on hugs, pats on the back, high fives, and helping each other. The very essence of camp is incompatible with the strict form of social distancing and current health restrictions.

The safety and health of our campers and our entire camp community is, and always has been, our first priority. It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that Cape Cod Sea Camps has made the difficult decision to suspend the 2020 overnight and day camp programs and begin to focus on the 2021 summer.

This has been a very difficult decision and we share your disappointment.  We also know it is the right decision at this time.  Cape Cod Sea Camps has provided a camping experience every summer since 1922 and have held camp through the Great Depression, World War II, the polio epidemic and numerous other global events.  Each year, the benefits of a summer camping experience have enabled thousands of children to grow in the out-of-doors, explore personal relationships, become independent, and truly discover who they are at Cape Cod Sea Camps.

We will be lost this summer without seeing the many smiling faces of our campers, staff, and friends and families. It is each member of our camp community that helps to build such a wonderful and unique camp experience for everyone involved.  We are sad we can’t be together, for now, but we are excited for summer 2021, and are counting down the days!

We are heartbroken that our 99th camping season will not happen in 2020, but we look forward to “Our Best Summer Ever” in 2021!  We will communicate frequently as we plan for opportunities to connect with the CCSC community and our plans for next summer.

Thank you for your patience and consistent words of encouragement and gratitude.  If you have questions or concerns, please let us know.  In the meantime, we hope you stay healthy and safe.

From our council ring to yours,

FAQ regarding our COVID-19 response

What to do next?

Each family must complete a “2020 Camp Withdrawal Form” for each child enrolled in the 2020 camp season. Please sign in to your Camp In Touch account and click on the form identified as the “2020 Camp Withdrawal Form”.   Please complete the form by June 1, 2020.

How will CCSC manage refunds?

To indicate your refund choices, we must receive a completed “2020 Camp Withdrawal Form” for each child identifying your preference below.

We are offering families who have already paid any amount toward their child’s camp fees three options and you can request a plan that works for you.  We will begin the refund process on June 1 and all refunds will be credited to the credit card used or by check.

  • Option 1 – Rolling Over Tuition – We would hope that many of you would be able to roll over your tuition payments for the summer of 2021. If you are able to do this, we would be very grateful and it would allow us to plan for our best summer ever in 2021.  In addition, you will receive the 2020 rates with preferred placement in 2020.
  • Option 2 – Rolling Over Registration Deposit – Another option is to roll over the registration deposit which would also entitle you to receive the 2020 tuition rates and ensure the return of your family to CCSC.
  • Option 3 – Full Refund – If neither of these choices are right for your family and you request a tuition refund, including the registration deposit, we will begin the refund process by June 1.

How will CCSC address the Leadership Training (LT) Program?

If your child was enrolled in the Leadership Training Program as an LT1, LT2, LT3, or LT4, we will share a path forward for their continued participation in upcoming LT communications.

What are the plans for 14 y/o campers who cannot attend the Leadership Training Program next summer?

CCSC will have a plan for 14 y/o campers to attend camp for shorter sessions.

What are the plans for future programs and summer 2021?

Like many of you, we are looking ahead to a time when this “new normal” fades into our “next normal” and that we may all be together again. We will continue to keep in contact and we look forward to Summer 2021 at CCSC.
