The Monomoy Day Camp Experience:
The programs at the Monomoy Day Camp were designed after our resident camp
programs and are under the supervision of directors with
an impressive background in resident camping. As a
result, campers at MDC receive a true camping experience
with all the fun, spirit, interdependence and camaraderie
which contribute to the lifelong memories of summer camp.
Campers:
Monomoy Day Camp is a co-educational camp for children ages 4 to 17 with
approximately 300 campers per week. Campers are
placed in 8 units according to age, grade, developmental
maturity and friendships. The geographical
distributions of campers is approximately 17% Cape Cod
residents, 53% Massachusetts and 24 other states, and 5%
foreign visitors most recently from Canada, Singapore,
Italy, France, Switzerland, Japan, and England.
Sessions:
Campers in the general programs may attend MDC from 1 to 7 weeks.
We do offer a special 5 day/ 4 night
Days A-Way
program for 1st time overnight campers. Another special
program is our Junior Counselor Training Program for
teens. Campers in this program must attend camp for the
entire 7 week season.
Staff:
The Monomoy Day Camp is a co-educational camp with a dedicated and talented
staff. Nancy W

Camping Association Certified Camping Professional, with a
BS from Skidmore College and has worked as a director
since 1979. Monomoy Day Camp Director, Rick "Otis"
Moyer, M.Ed. Springfield College who is currently in
his 36th camping season with the Cape Cod Sea Camps
oversees the Day Camp and Days A-Way programs.
Many counselors are graduates of our
Junior Counselor Training Program with years of camp
experience. New counselors are college age or older
and are chosen for their interest with children. The
ratio of staff to campers is approximately 1:5.
Camp Program:
Each day is divided into four periods as follows:
- Games
- Elective (daily activity selection)
- Swimming
- Occupation (weekly activity selection)
Games period is when each unit
participates in a group game or unit activity.
Elective and Occupation periods are specific activities
campers choose from many different offerings on a daily
(Elective) and weekly (Occupation) basis. Activity
periods are approximately 1 hour long. Every week
there are designated themes such as Circus Week, The
Olympics, etc. which provide special events,
activities and trips.
